UCF vs. Hartford Preview

Coming off of one of their most significant tournament appearances in recent memory, the Knights find themselves hosting a winless Hartford squad on Saturday.

While the Knights missed out on a first place finish by dropping a game to Harvard in the finals, UCF topped #4 ranked UCONN at last weekends Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the bahamas. The Huskies were enjoying a 16-game win streak and are defending national champions. That win is easily the biggest in school history, and only the third win over a ranked opponent the program has ever had.

UCF’s big weekend was lead by junior forward Keith Clanton, who is averaging 18.2 points per game. Clanton is also leading the team in rebounds, averaging 9 per game.

Despite a 2-0 record against Hartford, Clanton and company will have a bit easier of a time than last weekend; Hartford is 0-7 on the year, losing 74-69 to Yale on Tuesday. The Knights are also sterling at home against non-conference opponents, never losing to one under current coach Donnie Jones.

Hartford is lead by Freshmen guard Wes Cole, who is averaging 9.2 points per game and Freshmen forward Nate Skima, who is averaging 4.4 rebounds per game.
