05.11: Dustin Zito

aXis: So, how and when did you decide that you wanted to pursue this opportunity with reality tv, and more specifically the Real World on MTV?
Dustin:
It was sort of thrown in my lap by a family friend! I wanted to pursue the opportunity after talking with some friends.

aXis: How has it affected you on a day to day basis since the show aired?
Dustin:
Not much! I still hang out with my friends and go to the same places. Things do have a slight twist now, but I kinda like the attention

aXis: Have you attempted to stay on track with your previous career/college/work goals, or do you see this as an opportunity to pursue television, film, stage, etc?
Dustin:
A little of both! I want to ride the wave and leave my options open but at the same time i want to pursue some of my life long goals as well.

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen happen behind the scenes during shooting, that might
not have aired?
Dustin:
I love the dailies video of me talking to security after a drunken stupor during the first week!! Hahaha…

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen while on site at promotions and appearances?
Dustin:
Body Shot Marathons!! I lined up a number of young ladies that wanted to participate and crawl over them one after the other and take a shot out of their bellies and take the lemon out of their mouths.

aXis: Have you ever been to Orlando, any memories, and/or what do you look forward to checking out before hitting the bar at Chiller’s in Downtown?
Dustin:
I have never been to Orlando but look forward to the Florida weather…and maybe check out some beach bodies!

05.25: Naomi Defensor

aXis: So, how and when did you decide that you wanted to pursue this opportunity with reality tv, and more specifically the Real World on MTV?
Naomi:
It was actually really random. I went to a casting call in Buffalo while I was still in school at Buff State. One of my sorority sisters told me about it. She knew my crazy personality would make it on the show and apparently it did..I never thought about Real World prior to my casting interview, but hands down this is the best experience I have ever had so I’m happy I went.

aXis: How has it affected you on a day to day basis since the show aired?
Naomi:
Well, I’m still in college right now and it’s crazy because every two seconds I feel like people are whispering about me… “Oh, that’s the girl from Real World,” “That’s the girl that hooked up with Leroy,” or “She isn’t that pretty”. I just constantly feel like I’m being judged. Being at Buff State used to be a getaway for me because I hate being home but now it’s just like a pit of criticism -  I hate it.

aXis: Have you attempted to stay on track with your previous career/college/work goals, or do you see this as an opportunity to pursue television, film, stage, etc?
Naomi:
As I stated before, I am still in school so to a certain extent I am trying to stay on track but it is so easy to get side tracked because I get paid to do club appearances, people want me to attend events, and I want to do everything. I have missed so many classes this semester because of traveling that I question what’s important to me - being in the entertainment spotlight or getting my degree. My answer should be getting a degree but I so easily get caught up in the hype of things.

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen happen behind the scenes during shooting, that might not have aired?
Naomi:
I have definitely seen it all…but some of the craziest things would probably be this one fight I got into with Dustin when he said I have no respect for myself and I called him something I’m not proud of..then there’s anything that Nany and I did. Me and Nany together are trouble. We just can’t help ourselves.

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen while on site at
promotions and appearances?
Naomi:
Ha! I’ve done several appearances already and something crazy always seems to happen. One time Heather and I were out in El Paso and a group of gang bangers were asking us for pictures and making me and Heather throw up gang signs. I tell Heather, little did you know we just got initiated into their gang just now!

aXis: Have you ever been to Orlando, any memories, and/or what do you look forward to checking out before hitting the bar at Chiller’s in Downtown?
Naomi:
I’ve gone to Orlando at least four times with my family. This time around I’ll be going as an adult so I’m looking forward to the party aspect. I can’t wait, I know it’s going to be dope!!

05.18:  Michael Ross

aXis: So, how and when did you decide that you wanted to pursue this opportunity with reality tv, and more specifically the Real World on MTV?
Michael:
It’s actually kinda funny how I ended up on the Real World. Basically, I had just broken up with my girlfriend of two and a half years. We both went to the same school (University of Maryland), which is a big school, but a very small town…if that makes any sense. After we broke up I kept running into her everywhere. So one weekend, in an effort to just get away from UMD and my ex for awhile, my roommate and I decided to go visit Philadelphia. We went with the intent of trying out for the show, but more so just did it for a change of scenery. We spent $90 at the bar that day and really just had fun with it…we certainly didn’t expect that either one of us would make it. But heck, I did!

aXis: How has it affected you on a day to day basis since the show aired?
Michael:
On a day to day basis, things (for me at least) are still pretty much the same. I still live in my college apartment, I still read books, and I still hang out with all my buddies. The only real difference is that now people recognize me everywhere I go. It’s kinda cool to meet someone and just see their eyes light up because they’re meeting someone they’ve seen on TV. I looove making their day…so if you ever see me out, say hi!

aXis: Have you attempted to stay on track with your previous career/college/work goals, or do you see this as an opportunity to pursue television, film, stage, etc?
Michael:
I’m a man with drive and ambition. I want to impact the agricultural industry in as many ways as possible. It’s an industry that has drifted away from sustainable practices – I want to be a part of the revolution to reinvigorate social responsibility and efficiency within the Big Agriculture world. This being said, it’s time for grad school for me; hopefully Oregon State, Washington State, Colorado State, Texas A&M, Penn State, or University of California, Davis. They all have great agricultural development programs that would help me get closer to my fixing the problems at hand. So, as far as TV production, the only way I’d ever really get involved again is if it was something educational or ‘green’ related…or if it could help pay for grad school!

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen happen behind the scenes during shooting, that might not have aired?
Michael:
Wellll, I can’t really talk about stuff that wasn’t aired. What I can say, however, is that we are a crazzzy group of strangers that are constantly doing the unthinkable. The funny stuff that doesn’t make the episodes goes onto a site called, “realworlddailies.com.” Definitely check them out, because there’s some really funny stuff on the site that really helps you get to know each one of us a little more.

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen while on site at promotions and appearances?
Michael:
I’ve only done a few appearances so far, and haven’t really seen anything too crazy…so you’re gonna have to step it up, Orlando! Show me a wild time when I get there!

aXis: Have you ever been to Orlando, any memories, and/or what do you look forward to checking out before hitting the bar at Chiller’s in Downtown?
Michael:
I’ve never been to Orlando before, but I feel like it would be a crying shame for me to not go to Disney World while I’m there…sooo…anyone down for a pregame with Goofy, Minne Mouse, and the rest of the Disney crowd?

06.01: Heather Marter

aXis: How has it affected you on a day to day basis since the show aired?
Heather:
Not too much. I’m currently back in college, where a lot of people already knew me. Everyone treats me the same and knows me for me.

aXis: Have you attempted to stay on track with your previous career/college/work goals, or do you see this as an opportunity to pursue television, film, stage, etc?
Heather:
I’m back in college in New Jersey finishing a bachelor degree in television production and a minor in information technology. My work goals have always been my biggest priority, and part of the reason I originally wanted to be involved with the show. I would love to edit or become a casting director.

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen happen behind the scenes during shooting, that might not have aired?
Heather:
We were supposed to not really pay attention to production, and treat them like furniture. This was especially difficult for me because I was interested in the technical aspect. It was also hard because some of the camera men were pretty attractive!

aXis: What’s some of the craziest things you’ve seen while on site at promotions and appearances?
Heather:
I love appearances because I love to hear everyone’s feedback on the show. It’s cool to see people get invested in my life and feel like they already know me before I even meet them. I also love getting to visit places that I might have never got the opportunity to go to otherwise.

aXis: Have you ever been to Orlando, any memories, and/or what do you look forward to checking out before hitting the bar at Chiller’s in Downtown?
Heather:
I have been to Disney World a few times when I was younger. However, I’ve never been outside of it, so I’m excited to see a different side to Orlando!
